Welcome to our Princes’ island tour program on this tour program our aim to take our guests little bit away from the crowds of the city center. And let them to enjoy their ice cream while riding on a phaeton or Bicycle tour.
Princes’ islands are in total nine. Imagine a group of nine islands in the sea of Marmara .
Approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes away from Eminönü by a ferry . Only the four of these islands are open to visiters. The biggest and most popular and crowded island in the summer is “Big island”, in Turkish known as “ Büyük Ada “. The others are Burgaz ada , Kınalı ada , Heybeli ada.
Big island is the most famous touristic island in istanbul.Specially locals when they get tired of the busy city life, they escape and get the first ferry to Big island. In the island , it is forbidden to drive a motor vehicle. Only the Horse carriages and bicycles are allowed.
Well to be honest , the smell of the horses will not be so pleasent for you. But the rest is amazing , especially ice cream , sea side fish restaurants , fancy houses , Old wooden Kiosks , magnificent Mansions , and peaceful beaches for swimming. All in one island.
We meet with our dearest Guests at the Eminönü Big island ferry port ( Eminönü Büyük Ada vapur iskelesi ) at 8:45 am
Than we take the local ferry to Big island at 9:00 am and we arrive there at 10:35 am.
When we get there first we walk on the sea side in between the nice fish restaurants , then we let our guests to choose , bicycle or horse Carriage phaeton ride. On the phaeton enjoy your time by looking at the beautiful Judas trees , flowers ,adorned Gardens , the Wooden kiosk , waterside mansions. Let happy people around to bring alot of positive energy to your mood. Phaeton tour will be around 20 minutes. than we get off from phaeton and will start to walk up to a steep hill to visit a worldwide famous Church ..
The name of the Church is Aya Yorgi (Church of St. George)
We will climb up to this steep Hill for around 20 minutes . On the very top of the hill there is a Church which was a place of a monestry in 963. But the monumental church which we are going to see on our tour today was built in 1751 . Restorated in 1905. Opened to visiters
in 1909 .
This church is one of the two pilgrimage points of Christians, In Turkey. 1 – House of the Virgin Mary in Ephesus 2- AYA YORGI ( Church of St. George )
Every year on the feast day of St. Georges especially crowded. in every April 23rd, and September 24th. Thousands of pilgrims, regardless of religious denomination, walk up to steep hill. They walk up the church without wearing shoes or speaking, to honor the st. George . Some even tie a string to a bush and unravel it all the way up to the top for good luck or for their wishes to come true. Once you get up till the church silently you get a key or bell From the priest but with one condition. if your wish became true You have to return the key or bell back to the Church. For more to add There is a Restaurant , on the top , where we can find fresh meat , salads , and delicious Turkish meal. The view is wonderful , wind is amazing ,
